Richard Allchild CMP, President
Richard is currently the Sales Manager for the IMEX Group. Richard has worked at IMEX since 2008 and looks after clients from the USA, Caribbean, Cruise Lines and Europe for both IMEX America and IMEX in Frankfurt. Richard graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London with a BA Hons in History before working for Haymarket Publications in both their London and New York offices. Richard has been a member of MPI for 8 years, volunteering on the membership committee for 2 years before being on the Board for the past 4 years.
Judy Elvey, President Elect
Judy is a strategic, CIM qualified marketing professional with experience in publishing, hospitality and leisure industries. Judy started her career in advertising but quickly moved to marketing. She has over 15 years’ experience in the events industry, having worked as an event organiser, at a venue and for key industry publishers, Mash Media and Square Meal. Currently working for Cvent as a Senior Marketing Manager, Judy is passionate about all things events, whether she is organising them, marketing them or supplying the industry with tools to execute fantastic events! She was part of the launch team for The Meetings Show as well as launching The Exhibition News Awards for Mash Media. Judy has been a member of MPI for many years, this is her second year sitting on the MPI board.
Jane Baker, Immediate Past President
Jane works with brands, agencies and businesses to produce engaging events, brand experiences, marketing and new business campaigns. With nearly two decades experience, she has worked with brands including Airbus, Netflix, M&S, Pfizer, BP and Salesforce. Prior to founding Elgin Consulting & Events, Jane held senior positions in some of the world’s leading events agencies including George P. Johnson and CWT Meetings & Events, leading major strategic accounts and multi-functional teams. After becoming a member of MPI UK & Ireland in 2010, Jane joined the board to lead education in 2013, becoming President for the 2016-2018 period.
Natasha Keesoony, Vice President – Membership
Natasha is currently Hosted Buyer Programme Manager for The Meetings Show, an annual exhibition for the meetings industry based in the UK which sees over 3,000 industry professionals gathering in London for the show. Natasha is responsible for the overall management and successful delivery of the Hosted Buyer programme, her role involves building relationships with industry peers and securing third party group coordinators through business development activities and successful implementation of the hosted buyer recruitment campaign.
Natasha has been a member of MPI since January 2017. Prior to this, Natasha has been involved with MPI since 2012, having attended various MPI networking and education events including UK and Ireland Chapter events, economic outlook education sessions and EMEC conferences.
Catherine Trevor – Director – Membership
Catherine has been at Reed Exhibitions for 3 years as part of the Hosted Buyer team with ibtm events, formerly as an Account Manager but now working as Business Development Manager for Europe. Her role is building relationships across the industry to bring hosted buyers to our shows, including our flagship event, ibtm world in Barcelona. She came to the world of events 3 years ago following 6 years as an Investment Manager and 2 winters in the Alps as a Resort Manager. Catherine joined MPI in 2017 but has attended some MPI networking events and the EMEC Conference since joining Reed 3 years ago.
Ciara Feely, Vice President – Education
Ciara Feely teaches an approach to the Conference & Meetings Market that has an impact on Market Share and Profitability.” (as quoted by John Simonich, Area Director IHG) Ciara has created a Sales & Marketing programme called Steps to WIN™. It’s a formula that shows hotels & venues how to win BIG in the conference market by helping them to see their business from their client’s point of view. This step by step system gets results such as “We doubled our sales in September 2016” with the Jumeirah Hotel Group.
She is the author of “Steps to WIN in the Meetings Market” a book that shows hotels & venues how to WIN more market share and be leaders in the sales process. She teaches all over the world via her training website and interactive webinars and in-person workshops.
Ciara was an Agent for ten years (and an hotelier before that for ten years) and brings the client perspective to the table.
Ciara is a new member of MPI. She partnered with the Education Board two years ago and is the industry expert leading the new Venue Sales Certificate Program just launched by MPI. She is proud to be the first person to bring specialised education to the MPI events worldwide for hotel, venue & agency partners.
Leo Platt, Vice President – Events
Leo has over 20 years first-hand experience in marketing and communications and from a grass roots level has developed into an award-winning company director. Leo holds a CIM post graduate diploma in Marketing as well as a BSc (Hons) in Event Management. Prior to founding Leopold Marketing, Leo held the position of Managing Director at one of the world’s largest event management agencies. During his career Leo has overseen the delivery of a complete range of high-profile campaigns for a broad spectrum of clients. Leo is a dynamic, resourceful and professional director that understands the unique needs of each client and has the tenacity to ensure the very best results.
Susan Arslan, Vice President – Communications
An MPI Board Member and Member of the MPI Foundation EMEA council, Susan has a leadership role with HelmsBriscoe. Her role is diverse, providing an active contribution to the UK HelmsBriscoe leadership team, recruiting Graduates to her team of Associates, developing partnership initiatives between industry practitioners and Higher Education providers in support of the student experience, and venue finding consultancy for her client portfolio, for which she was recognised as ‘Rising Star 2017’.
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, an MSc in Psychology and over 20 years operational HR leadership in the HE sector has given Susan expertise in Communications, Employee Engagement and Wellbeing, about which she regularly presents at conferences and workshops.
Darren Wright, Vice President – Sponsorship
Darren currently works for Reed Exhibitions and is the Sales Manager on ibtm world.
Having worked on ibtm world for over 5 years, Darren has gained industry experience working with a variety of clients including National Tourism Organisations, International Hotel Groups and Destination Management Companies.
Darren joined Reed Exhibitions from Haymarket Exhibitions where he worked on the BBC Good Food Show for 4 years.
Darren has been a member of MPI since he began at Reed Exhibitions and has attended many MPI events including the MPI UK & Ireland chapter networking events and EMEC Conference.
Felix Goblet, Vice President – Finance
Felix is currently the Director of the London based office for GL events Venues managing the commercialisation of the network of 42 Venues (Conference Centres and Exhibition Centres) across the world.
Felix works with some of the world’s leading agencies and exhibition organisers requiring Venues that can ensure the successful delivery of large scale events. Having worked with GL events Venues division for 5 years, he has experience of working with public sector in securing new venues in the following regions: Spain, South America and UK.
Having already been involved in activities of MPI Iberian chapter, he was keen to engage and get involved in the UK & Ireland chapter upon his arrival in 2016. Passionate about the events industry and keen to assist with development new talent. He is keen to make an impact and work as a team as an MPI board member.
